Rana Gorgani’s Teaching

Sufi dance – Whirling dervishes – Tradition and precision

Learning The Sufi Dance with Rana Gorgani does not boil down to bodily exercise. It is to enter a discipline where rotation becomes a path of balance, rigor and inner openness. Each gesture is transmitted with precision, each correction is a step towards greater freedom.

The rigor of a living art

The teaching is based on the technique of whirling dervishes (not mevlevi), axis alignment, fluid breathing, and stamina mastery.

Students learn:

To turn without vertigo thanks to the work of the gaze

To develop the fluidity of the arms and the stability of the supports

To enter into the Sufi rhythm and the musicality of the ney, the daf and the songs

Adab: the ethics of the circle

Beyond the technique, Rana transmits what Sufis call the adab, that is to say the attire, attitude and respect that accompany the practice.

Adab is not just politeness: it is an inner and outer posture that connects the dancer to tradition.

In the teaching of Rana Gorgani, adab gives Sufi dance its dignity and depth. It transforms a movement into a ritual and a rotation into silent prayer.

An open pedagogy

With rigor, requirement and inspiration, Rana Gorgani transmits the Sufi dance as a living art where each turn becomes an offering.

Dervish oracle

What is the Dervish Oracle?

It is a silent spiral. Each card is a step in an invisible dance where we join the rhythm of the world. The oracle is not static: it vibrates, it breathes, it allows itself to be tamed by slowness.
