DIALOGUE WITH SHAMS

Matthieu Hocquemiller excels in drawing portraits that are as sensitive as they are impactful, for which he engages performing artists on the path to their own autofiction. Throughout these meetings, a sharp and critical look is taken at social norms and singularities. DIALOGUE WITH SHAMS constitutes the first content of a reflection carried, through three stories of bodies, on the notion of the undesirable. Here, the choreographer guides the Iranian dancer Rana Gorganiin the writing of an imaginary dialogue with Shams, a wandering Persian mystic from the 13th century and great figure of Sufism. The woman's personal story intersects with political reflections on migratory routes, gender relations and biculturality.
