Rana Gorgani invites you to participate in a Sufi dance and meditation workshop, accessible to everyone, whether you are a beginner or experienced. For two hours, you will have the opportunity to initiate or improve in this spiritual and expressive practice. You don't need a large space to participate; a small amount of space to move freely is more than enough. Join us for this enriching experience!
Sufi Dance Workshop Program + DAF open to beginners
- Sufi Dance - Total duration: 4 hours (9 a.m. - 13 p.m.)
- DAF - Total duration: 2 hours (13 p.m. - 15 p.m.)
Sufi dance
Introduction (10 minutes)
- Welcome and presentation: Brief introduction by the instructor, Rana Gorgani, and explanation of the objectives of the workshop.
- Presentation of participants: Virtual round table so that everyone introduces themselves briefly.
Warm-up (20 minutes)
- Basic movements: Instructions on the basic movements of Sufi dance, focused on breathing and bodily awareness.
- Gentle warm-up: Exercises to prepare the body for dancing, emphasizing fluidity and relaxation.

Learning Sufi Dance (50 minutes)
- Fundamental techniques: Learning specific movements of Sufi dance, such as rotations and hand gestures.
- Combinations of movements: Practice more complex sequences to integrate the techniques learned.
Meditation and Dance (30 minutes)
- Guided meditation: Meditation session to refocus and harmonize the mind with the body.
- Meditative dance: Free dance where participants are invited to put into practice the movements learned in a meditative state.
Discussion and feedback on the experience (10 minutes)
- Sharing experiences: Time for participants to share their feelings and experiences.
- Practical advice: Tips for integrating the practice of Sufi dance into daily life.
Closing (10 minutes)
- Recap and Questions: Workshop summary and Q&A session to clarify doubts.

Through these meetings in Paris, we offer you a musical journey where rhythm becomes the language of the heart, weaving links between the participants and the very essence of Sufi music.

Orchestration of Sessions
Concert Projects
As a continuation of “40 Dafs: Rhythms of the Heart”, several concerts are planned in the future. These musical events will offer participants the opportunity to put their learning into practice and share their passion with a wider audience. However, although strongly recommended, participation in these concerts will not be compulsory. We believe in the freedom to explore and share without constraint, allowing everyone to experience the “40 Dafs: Rhythms of the Heart” adventure according to their own desires and aspirations.
Purchase of Dafs on site
Possession of a Daf is mandatory to participate in the sessions. For those who do not yet have their own instrument, Dafs will be available for purchase on site during the sessions. This possibility will allow each participant to acquire their own Daf and to fully engage in learning and practicing this emblematic instrument of Sufi music.
