1. Love and devotion :

2. Sincerity :

Being sincere in your spiritual journey is essential. This means acting authentically, being honest with yourself and seeking inner truth.

3. The search for knowledge :

A Sufi is a seeker of truth. He is engaged in a quest for spiritual knowledge and seeks to deepen his understanding of mystical teachings.

4. Compassion :

Compassion towards all living beings is an important quality in Sufism. A Sufi aspires to cultivate compassion and show unconditional love towards humanity. 

5. Humility :

Humility is an essential virtue for progress on the Sufi path. It involves recognising one's own insignificance in the face of divine greatness and rejecting pride and ego.

6. Patience:

Patience is necessary to persevere on the Sufi path, as spiritual growth can take time. A Sufi is prepared to be patient in his or her practice and to accept challenges and trials as learning opportunities. 

7. Discipline :

Spiritual discipline is fundamental to Sufism. A Sufi undertakes to follow the recommended teachings and practices, devoting himself to prayer, meditation and other spiritual disciplines. 

8. Secondment :

Material detachment is a quality valued in Sufism. A Sufi seeks not to be attached to material possessions and to be free from excessive desires and attachments.

9. Integrity :

Integrity is important in Sufism. A Sufi strives to live by high ethical principles, acting with honesty, justice and respect for others.

10. Open-mindedness :

Open-mindedness and tolerance are essential qualities in Sufism. A Sufi is willing to listen to and learn from other spiritual traditions, recognising that divine truth can be expressed in different ways.
