On 28 February 2026, the US Central Command launches Operation Epic Fury against Iran. Behind this brutal, almost video-game-like war name, unfolds airstrikes, images of destruction, and fragmented narratives. Maryam Saeedpoor observes from photography. Rana Gorgani responds from the body. Faced with images, the performance does not seek to represent war. It opens a counter-frame. The image testifies, the body endures. The image fixes a political wound; the body opposes it with a moving presence. Between action painting, expanded calligraphy, and choreographic memory, Rana Gorgani opens a territory where gesture becomes trace.
An original creation designed for the 57th Year's Nighte edition of the Rencontres d'Arles.
Video production: Antoine Svolanek.
With the help of Nicolas Glady and Amir Amiri.
At the invitation of the Rencontres d’Arles festival, Rana Gorgani is presenting a performance specially created for La Nuit de l’Année, an iconic event dedicated to the dialogue between visual arts and contemporary creation. Through the rotational movement that characterises her work, she offers an immersive experience where body, image and time meet in the same space of presence.
The unmissable festive event of the opening week takes place at the Étienne Paper Mill industrial wasteland, which is exceptionally open for the occasion. A visual journey through around forty photographic works, projected in a loop on large screens.
Highlights and carte blanche selections are on offer for this major photography celebration, also featuring performances, concerts, DJ sets, food trucks, and bars.
