This performance will be followed by a duet between Rana Gorgani and Ben Lamar Gay. Rana will introduce the audience to the Sufi dance of Samâ, a deep spiritual tradition. At the heart of this dance is trance, a heightened state of introspection and connection, often amplified by the power of sound. Ben LaMar Gay, composer and multi-instrumentalist from Chicago, enriches this trance state with a sonic dimension that fuses jazz, electronic music, and African and Brazilian nuances. Its musical contribution, in harmony with Samâ, guides and intensifies the journey towards trance. Together, their collaboration weaves a dialogue between tradition and modernity, where the deep roots of a tradition combine with the sonic creativity of modernity.
